Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Design and execute risk management strategies specifically aligned with freight brokerage operations.
• Oversee the carrier onboarding and qualification process to ensure alignment with FMCSA regulations and internal compliance standards.
• Analyze and negotiate contracts with carriers and customers, emphasizing risk mitigation, liability allocation, and insurance requirements.
• Handle cargo loss and damage claims, coordinating efforts with insurance companies, carriers, and legal advisors as needed.
• Keep up to date with evolving regulations (FMCSA, DOT, etc.) and incorporate industry best practices into brokerage operations.
• Perform regular audits and risk evaluations of transactional and operational activities within the brokerage.
• Partner with legal, compliance, operations, and finance teams to foster a culture of proactive risk awareness and management.
• Educate staff on risk-related matters, including fraud prevention, carrier compliance protocols, and claim resolution procedures.
• Contribute to business continuity planning and support the organization’s response to transportation-related emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience with logistics risk management.
• Experience with FMCSA regulations.
• Knowledge of TMS platforms (McLeod, Carrier411).
• Excellent communications skills
