Forge Forward is searching for a Technical Writer to support a client in Charleston, SC.  Candidate must be a US citizen holding an active SECRET clearance with a current SSBI/T5 investigation. TS/SCI desired. Any applicants not meeting these requirements cannot be considered.

Must have a minimum six (6) years of experience in writing/editing technical documentation related to C4I systems. Technical Writer supports the preparation, editing, and publication of technical documentation for C4I systems. This role works with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program staff to produce accurate and user-friendly documents that comply with DoD and Navy documentation standards.

Functional Responsibilities and Skills:

• Draft, revise, and finalize technical documentation including user guides, technical manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and engineering reports.
• Edit and format content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with standards such as MIL-STD-961 and applicable style guides.
• Assist in developing document templates, glossaries, and content libraries to streamline document generation.
• Collaborate with SMEs to clarify technical concepts and ensure content aligns with system specifications and program requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility and classification handling standards.
• Maintain document version control, track review cycles, and ensure timely delivery of contract deliverables (e.g., CDRLs).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document formatting tools.
• Familiarity with DoD documentation types and lifecycle processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to translate technical material into clear, structured documentation.

Required Skills:

• Six (6) years of experience in writing/editing technical documentation related to C4I systems.
• Associate’s degree. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Technical Writing desired.
• US citizen with active Secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

• Experience in a technical role is a plus.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with MDTST and SOVT
