Our client is a notable real estate firm / family office with a long-standing presence and diverse portfolio spanning multiple entities across the greater New York City area. With a blend of institutional sophistication and entrepreneurial spirit, the company manages a range of assets, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.

Senior Accountant / Property Controller (commensurate on experience)

MUST HAVE MRI --> ONSITE 4/5 DAYS A WEEK IN MIDTOWN NYC!!

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle accounting for multiple real estate entities and investments
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and maintain consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Oversee property-level reporting and coordinate with property management teams
  • Manage intercompany transactions, CAM reconciliations, and partner reporting
  • Support year-end audits and liaise with external auditors
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and implement process improvements
  • Assist with budgeting, cash flow analysis, and forecasting across entities
  • Maintain and improve reporting systems, with a focus on MRI Software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA a plus)
  • 3–9 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in real estate or family office environments
  • Strong working knowledge of MRI Software is a must
  • Tech-savvy mindset with comfort adopting and optimizing reporting systems
  • Ability to manage multiple entities and meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and a hands-on, solution-oriented approach
  • Strong understanding of real estate accounting, property operations, and investor reporting
