SAT/ACT Tutor

Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations? Eager to help students succeed in Math, Science, and Test prep?

GradePower Learning St. Petersburg  is looking for an upbeat reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time tutor who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in Math and must be comfortable teaching students in 9th to 12th grade (at all levels). The tutor must be familiar with latest SAT/ACT testing procedures, methodologies and standardized test taking strategies.

This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements:

All Tutors at GradePower Learning work during after-school and evening hours, as well as Saturdays, although you are not required to work every one of these days. However, your students will love working with you, so being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position and completing a background check is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education :

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• 3rd & 4th year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Strong knowledge of the current 9th to 12th grade curriculum

Experience :

• Some experience teaching/tutoring high school-level Math, Science and/or SAT/ACT
• Must have strong skills in Algebra, Advanced Math, Data Analysis, Geometry & Trigonometry.
• Strong English language Reading and Writing skills which includes knowledge of grammar, rhetoric and critical reading.
• Strong Math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students as a Tutor with the following responsibilities:

• Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Teaching in-person
• Following the GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Filling in post-lesson notes
• Completing daily student communication updates
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Job Type : Part-time

Salary Range :

$20 - $25 / hour based on previous experience and education

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday: afternoons and evenings
• Saturday mornings/early afternoons
• Specifics will be discussed during the interview process
