Job Description

Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) – Overview The RSO is the lead technical expert on the Radiation Safety Team and acts as the principal technical resource to the Mistras Services Group. The RSO is responsible for ensuring that all job sites and facility use of radiation comply with the MISTRAS Radioactive Material License, industry standards, and applicable government regulations. The RSO also ensures that radiation exposures to personnel are as low as reasonably achievable. Quality Assurance Manager – Overview The Quality Assurance Manager coordinates activities required to implement and maintain the Mistras Quality Assurance Program. This role provides quality training, uses continuous improvement tools, and oversees audits, customer complaints and corrective actions. The manager works as a team member to improve production processes and procedures, and supports day‑to‑day operations as directed by the General Manager. Major Responsibilities – RSO Review state and federal laws and Mistras safety policies to recommend modifications for compliance, safety, and efficiency. Investigate overexposures, accidents, thefts, and other deviations from approved radiation safety practices and implement corrective actions. Respond to radiation safety emergencies and prepare reports for governing bodies. Conduct radiation safety audits and recommend improvements at each service location within the Mistras network. Consolidate and computerize program aspects and promote a strong safety culture. Establish and track key performance indicators. Perform other duties as assigned. Major Responsibilities – Quality Manager Implement, maintain, and enhance the Quality Assurance Program. Manage the nonconforming material process and perform data analysis. Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action process and perform data analysis. Review contracts, purchase orders, job travelers, and work instructions. Answer customer questions and provide documentation of customer feedback. Approve suppliers and procure quality items and services. Oversee personnel qualification and certification, maintaining records and working with NDT Level III certifiers. Implement new procedures within the company and document changes to the program. Minimum Requirements Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or trade school, or equivalent work experience. Desire to grow the position and take on a more compliant role in the future. Formal training in establishing and maintaining a radiation protection program (training will be provided if needed). Experience establishing and maintaining a radiation protection program. Certified Radiographer with IRRSP Certification. Travel – minimum 40 % of the time, willing to perform radiography at job sites as needed. Ability to perform radiography on site as required.
