Parole and Probation Officer Department: Department of Community Justice (DCJ) Location: Various Locations in Multnomah County Pay Range: $40.06 - $51.09 per hour Job Type: Regular Represented, Non‑Exempt Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hrs per week; occasional evenings and weekends. Closing Date: October 30, 2025 (Open until filled; new review every four weeks) The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) provides supervision and services to justice‑involved youth, adults, families and communities. As a Parole and Probation Officer, you will play a key role in creating a safer community by helping clients develop pro‑social behaviors and promoting accountability through cognitive and behavioral interventions. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized supervision plans that promote lasting behavior change. Conduct field investigations, crisis interventions, escape prevention and re‑arrest operations. Provide case management and counseling services, using evidence‑based practices such as EPICS and Motivational Interviewing. Maintain accurate case records and prepare timely reports for courts, treatment agencies and community partners. Work independently and as part of a team to prioritize caseload and meet strict deadlines. Make arrests and coordinate transportation as required by departmental procedures. Communicate effectively with diverse populations, including bilingual outreach when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology or related field, or equivalent experience. Six months of responsible social counseling, case management, community corrections, law enforcement or corrections experience. U.S. citizenship or pending citizenship status at time of hire. Valid driver’s license. Successful completion of physical exam and psychological evaluation. Pass DPSST certification within eighteen months of hire. Extensive background investigation and fingerprinting requirement. Preferred Qualifications Experience in social counseling with case management or community supervision. Law enforcement or corrections background. Recent Parole/Probation officer certification from Oregon DPSST. Demonstrated transferable skills such as leadership, communication, and organizational effectiveness. Selection Process Initial review of minimum qualifications. Evaluation of application materials.
