Employee Mission
As an employee at Coolibar, you play a vital role in advancing our mission: to keep the world safe from sun damage, protecting those with sun-related medical conditions and helping prevent it for everyone else. You are part of a collaborative, cross-functional team dedicated to delivering the most innovative, user-centric UPF 50+ clothing and products, empowering people to live active, outdoor lives with confidence and safety in the sun.
Job Summary
As the Category Manager for Coolibar’s Casual and Travel categories, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and profitability of our two highest-performing divisions. This position requires a strategic, user-first thinker who can translate user insights and lifestyle trends into cohesive, performance-driven assortments.
You will lead the end-to-end category strategy, from assortment planning and financial forecasting to product storytelling and launch execution. In this highly cross-functional role, you will collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, E-Commerce, Buying, and Planning teams to ensure category strategies align with business objectives and, most importantly, user needs. Your work will be instrumental in shaping the product roadmap, optimizing SKU productivity, and maintaining Coolibar’s leadership in sun-protective lifestyle apparel.
This is a full-time, in-person position based at our headquarters in Miami. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities
· Build and manage seasonal line plans that balance innovation with core styles, ensuring SKU efficiency and margin optimization.
· Oversee the category performance from concept through in-season management and exit strategies, informed by sell-through data and user behavior.
· Partner closely with the Product team to ensure every style is purposely built for its intended use, reflecting user needs, preferences, and feedback throughout the design and development process.
· Collaborate with the Marketing and E-Commerce teams to ensure each product is positioned and promoted effectively to the specific end user, with compelling messaging and content that speaks directly to their lifestyle and needs.
· Partner with the Wholesale team to ensure alignment on seasonal assortment, channel needs, and go-to-market execution for external retail partners.
· Work with Buying and Planning to organize buys, set seasonal deadlines, and align on production timing to ensure timely product delivery.
· Own and drive top-line revenue, margin targets, and inventory productivity for the category. Partner with Planning and Buying to align forecasts with business goals.
· Leverage direct user feedback, behavioral data, and cultural trends to inform product direction and identify unmet needs or white space opportunities.
· Partner with internal teams to deliver compelling product stories and assortments that resonate with end users across all selling channels.
· Present seasonal assortment strategies, performance insights, and key product stories to shareholders and senior leadership to secure alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
· Act as the connective tissue between teams, ensuring timelines, product positioning, and category priorities are consistently aligned and clearly communicated.
· Champion an entrepreneurial spirit within the team by taking ownership, proposing new ideas, and driving continuous improvement within a growing business unit.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
· 3–7+ years of progressive experience in merchandising, category management, or buying, preferably within apparel, lifestyle, or user-centric product categories.
· Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Demonstrated experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Planning, Marketing, and Wholesale teams to bring assortments to market.
· Proven ability to interpret and act on sales data, user insights, and performance metrics to inform product and assortment strategies.
· Proficiency in PLM software, Excel, and retail analytics/reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
· Experience working in direct-to-consumer (DTC), wholesale, or omnichannel business models is strongly preferred.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present strategies and results to both internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
· Enthusiasm for building user-centric product assortments that support active lifestyles and Coolibar’s sun protection mission
