We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced French Specialist to perform quality assurance checks on machine-translated French subtitles for English reality television content. The ideal candidate is a French speaker with a strong understanding of localization standards and technical subtitle requirements for Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms. Responsibilities Linguistic Review: Evaluate the accuracy, grammar, spelling, and cultural appropriateness of the French subtitles compared to the original English dialogue. Technical Compliance: Ensure all subtitles adhere to technical specifications for OTT platforms, including character limits, line breaks, reading speed, and font requirements. Synchronization: Verify that subtitle timings precisely match the audio and on-screen action within the video content. Contextual Editing: Review subtitles within the visual context of the reality TV show to ensure natural flow and correct speaker identification. Feedback & Reporting: Document all errors, provide actionable feedback for the translation team, and maintain consistent quality across projects. Requirements Fluency in French (target language) and strong comprehension of English (source language). Proven experience in translation QA, subtitling, or localization for digital media/streaming platforms. Familiarity with CAT tools and subtitle editing software (e.g., Ooona, Swift, EZTitles). Deep understanding of French cultural nuances and contemporary slang/idioms as used in reality TV. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
