Essential Job Functions:

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all DOT and applicable state regulations are followed. Monitor Daily and Weekly Hours of Service, review and audit driver logs.
  • Meet Accident, Injury and CSA goals through prevention. Create a Safety First Culture -- lead employee engagement.
  • Lead company safety programs and communicate safety expectations. Address safety nonconformance and violations/incidents.
  • Communication: Successful engagement of communication with drivers and stations through multiple mediums, including phone, operating system, email, mobility solutions.
  • Effectively utilize inter-office communications, understanding contact and escalation protocol and keeping all stakeholders informed on required information.
  • Make suggestions and show initiative for process improvements.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, vendors and employees.
  • Drive a high level of engagement with drivers, act as their liaison with the company, addressing issues, resolving discrepancies, understanding their expectations.
  • Implement and monitor key policies and procedures. Effective on-boarding of new drivers.
  • Financial: Assist Operations Manager with planning and budget process by controlling cost and quality control -- to include daily cost control.
  • Maintain any additional reporting and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Working knowledge of the Owner Operators and/or Company Drivers pay package and monitor weekly driver settlement results. Monitor and drive key fleet KPI's -- equipment utilization, empty miles, out of route miles, on time performance. Monitor weekly settlements.
  • Customer Service: Drive a service culture.
  • Clearly communicate customer expectations to fleet. Ensure on time pickup and delivery.
  • Proactive follow up and milestone updates.
  • Ensure documentation and support data are captured.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft office applications.
  • Experience working with dispatch and or TMS systems. Problem solving- identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of geographic market.
  • Read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents.
  • Customer Service-manages difficult both internal and external customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs and welcome customer feedback.
  • Quality management-look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED Required. Minimum 1 to 3 years, related experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of industry experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Professional certification may be required in some areas.
