Salary: $90,000 – $129,000 annually (approximately $42.09 – $62/hr) + Full Benefits

Schedule: Monday–Friday, no weekends

Overview:

A large 474-bed acute-care hospital located in San Jose, CA, is seeking a full-time, on-site HIM Director to lead and manage Health Information Management operations. This role is with a nationally recognized healthcare organization offering full-service revenue cycle management solutions.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Regional HIM Director. The HIM Director will oversee all facility-based HIM workflows, manage HIM staff, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You will drive unbilled management processes, lead system implementations, and collaborate with hospital departments and medical staff to optimize documentation and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily HIM operations: record reconciliation, release of information, record retrieval, and trauma/tumor registries.
• Supervise HIM staff and monitor productivity, service levels, and workflow processes.
• Perform and oversee facility unbilled activities and work closely with medical staff to resolve outstanding issues.
• Lead HIM system initiatives, including the implementation and maintenance of Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) technology.
• Act as a key point of contact for HIM-related projects and ongoing communication with hospital leadership and other departments.
• Support facility compliance with operational standards, quality measures, and revenue cycle targets

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (Required).
• RHIA or RHIT certification (Required).
• Minimum of 3+ years of recent HIM Director-level experience in a large hospital setting (Required).
• Strong understanding of HIM operations, unbilled management, and healthcare compliance.
