Design Engineer | Mattawan, MI

Salary Range: $76,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize product designs and components using CAD software.
• Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Conduct design analysis, simulations (e.g., FEA), and calculations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and resolve design-related issues.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design requirements, cost, and performance.
• Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs.
• Implement design changes and improvements based on feedback, testing, and production data.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proven knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication) and application of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Experience with material selection, properties, and their application in manufacturing environments.
• Experience in prototyping, testing, and validation of designs for production readiness.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with FEA or CFD software for design validation.
• Practical experience with advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, injection molding).
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
• Experience with scripting or programming for design automation (e.g., Python, VBA).
