About the Organization

Founded in 1933, Mental Health America (MHA) of Central Carolinas’ mission is to advance mental wellness through education, advocacy, and access to support. MHA provides family support services to parents of children with behavioral, emotional or mental health needs; social programming for adults living with mental health challenges; free counseling for those who can’t afford it; and mental health education and preventative trainings to the broader community. MHA’s programs bring together mental health consumers, parents, advocates and service providers to address systemic issues impacting mental health.

Position Summary

The Community Educator, Latino Outreach facilitates the delivery, development, and expansion of culturally responsive mental health education and outreach efforts for English- and Spanish-speaking communities. This role focuses on trauma-informed content, community-based learning, and equitable language access. The position also includes curriculum development, workshop facilitation, and strategic community partnerships, especially within Spanish-speaking communities to increase the reach, consistency, and impact of MHA's education and advocacy work.

Curriculum & Program Development

  • Collaborate to assess training gaps and participant feedback for new workshop offerings.
  • Contribute to long-term planning for expanding cultural training and engagement.

Community Outreach & Inclusion

  • Serve as a bilingual point of contact for Spanish-speaking community members, partners, and organizations.
  • Assist with development of Spanish-language marketing and outreach materials.
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with Latino-serving agencies, such as the Latino Chamber of Commerce, schools, and youth programs.

Administration & Reporting

  • Manage light administrative tasks, including workshop setup, documentation, and communication with partners.
  • Provide data for quarterly and year-end reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of facilitation or education delivery experience.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (spoken and written) required.
  • Experience designing and delivering culturally relevant content to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and Latino mental health priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, and virtual training tools.
