Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring a smooth operation within our facility. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient care protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks, making it essential to have excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
  • Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians
  • Perform basic coding for insurance purposes and maintain accurate patient records
  • Schedule appointments and update electronic health records (EHR)
  • Conduct X-ray procedures as needed, adhering to safety protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment
  • Prepare and sterilize medical instruments
  • Provide support in urgent care settings, including triaging patients based on severity of conditions
  • Collaborate with dermatology specialists for skin-related assessments and treatments
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, especially in Level II Trauma Center environments
  • Stay updated on anatomy and physiology to provide accurate patient care
  • Educate patients on medications, treatments, and follow-up care
  • Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA regulations.

Experience

  • 2 years minimum experience.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare role is preferred.
  • Familiar with emergency medicine practices is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of coding systems relevant to medical billing is advantageous.
  • Experience working in urgent care or trauma settings is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to assist in clinical assessments effectively.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fast-paced clinical and trauma-informed setting
  • Interaction with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff
  • May involve standing for extended periods and occasional lifting.
