Job Description

Our client is looking for an Assistant or Associate Designer with a focus on denim to join their New Yorkbased design team. This role will report to the Senior Design Director and collaborate closely with two Design Directors and an Associate Designer as part of a highly creative, fast-paced denim division.

The ideal candidate will bring strong denim expertise, sharp technical skills, and a proactive, detail-driven work style. This is an opportunity to contribute to product creation from concept through development, partnering with cross-functional teams and overseas factories while supporting a dynamic and collaborative design environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the denim design team from concept through development.
• Create AI-based sketches and digital renderings efficiently and accurately.
• Develop seasonal presentations, mood boards, and client-facing design decks.
• Partner with overseas teams and domestic clients with clear, professional communication.
• Manage workload independently, aligning with corporate calendars and deadlines.
• Assist in garment construction, fit reviews, and technical design needs.
• Prepare product approvals, samples, and related design materials as needed.
• Contribute to internal branding efforts, including simple video or photo content for social media.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth design-to-production workflows.

Qualifications

• 35 years of denim design experience (required).
• Strong knowledge of denim construction, washes, and finishing techniques.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive problem solver who can manage multiple priorities.
• Fast and skilled AI sketcher with strong digital design abilities.
• Proficient understanding of garment construction and technical design.
• Excellent communication skills with both overseas factories and domestic clients.
• Working knowledge of social media marketing, including simple video editing.
• Strong visual presentation skills, including layout, graphic design basics, and deck creation.
